Netflix has officially released our first look at its highly anticipated Gerald’s Game adaptation. Directed, edited and co-written by Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush, Ouija: Origin of Evil), Gerald’s Game was adapted from Stephen King’s 1992 novel of the same name and tells the story of a woman left handcuffed to a bed in the middle of nowhere after her husband dies during a sex game.
Relying mostly on the talents of actress Carla Gugino, the mostly single-character, single-location film looks like it does a fantastic job at capturing the helplessness and isolation of the story. Check out the official synopsis and trailer below.
When a harmless sex game between a married couple in a remote retreat suddenly becomes a harrowing fight for survival, wife Jessie must confront long-buried demons within her own mind – and possibly lurking in the shadows of her seemingly empty house.
Gerald’s Game will be released exclusively on Netflix September 29, 2017.
